Caselle di Selvazzano Dentro (Padua), 11 June 2019 – GREAT RACE BY ONIDI-MARTÍNEZ WITH A 6TH OVERALL PLACE
The third round in the 2019 International GT Open Championship was held last weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. Daiko Lazarus Racing gained an excellent third place on the podium in the PRO Class aka fourth overall place with Nicola De Marco and Nicolas Pohler in Race2 held on Sunday.
An absolutely positive weekend for the Team from Veneto also thank to the 6th overall place (4th in PRO Class) with the second Lamborghini started by the Team and raced by Fabio Onidi and Eliseo Martínez, due to non-stop work.
The race at Spa was the third race in three weeks for the team around Tancredi Pagiaro: Hockenheim, followed by the 1,000 km at Paul Ricard and then Spa a couple of days ago. In Belgium the Team gained some important points after the Huracán GT3 had been fitted with the EVO aero-package in Germany.
“We still need some more kilometres with the new car, especially regarding getting used to the Michelin tyres (used in the International GT Open Championship)”, Team Principal Pagiaro said. ”We were extremely competitive at Spa, without even considering that we had two races on the two weekends before, where we also had some serious accidents. The Team’s answer was perfect. Onidi was great, keeping some much faster drivers behind his car. Everyone has done excellent work!”
In Race1, held on Saturday, with both cars in sixth row on the starting grid, De Marco and Pohler, crossed the line fifth in the PRO Class and seventh overall, followed by Martínez and Onidi four places further behind.
After some heavy traffic in the second Qualifying on Sunday morning, both Daiko Lazarus Racing Huracáns started from seventh row into the race with De Marco and Pohler concluding the race right behind the third placed in the overall classification and Martínez-Onidi sixth, aka fourth in the PRO Class.
The next GT Open races will be held on 13/14 July at Austria’s Bull Ring, while at the end of the same months the blue Huracán number 27 will start at the 24 Hours of Spa in the next round of the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup.
