5TH OVERALL PLACE FOR RAMOS, DE MARCO AND ONIDI AND 1ST IN PRO-AM CLASS WITH THE
LAMBORGHINI HURACÁN GT3 FROM THE TEAM FROM VENETO IN ABU DHABI
Caselle di Selvazzano Dentro (Padua), 20 december 2018 – Last race of the season and top spot on the podium for the drivers from Daiko Lazarus Racing. At thei debut at the Gulf 12 Hours the Team from Veneto immediately made its mark with a fifth overall place in a field with 33 participating cars and a win in the PRO-AM class thanks to its novel drivers’ combination Miguel Ramos, Nicola De Marco and Fabio Onidi. The result was a mix of several circumstances: no problems whatsoever, a perfect race strategy – including also an excellent “splash’n’go”, but which didn’t have any effect due to the safety car on the track.
At the fascinating Yas Marina circuit at Abu Dhabi the Daiko Lazarus Racing drivers’ trio constantly drove in the Top 5, while – over the last 60 minutes of the 12-hour-race – gaining an advantage over their direct competitors in their class of one and a half laps.
A race, the men and women from Team Lazarus due to several factors somehow considered a “qualifying over 12 hours” and nothing could be left to chance, like the presence of several new models of different cars (such as Audi, Aston Martin and McLaren), who, in a certain sense, drove in an “open” configuration aka without a specific BoP. For the Daiko Lazarus Lamborghini the situation was slightly different: the car had to carry ten kilos of ballast more compared to the minimum weight at the Blancpain races.
“On Thursday in the Free Practice sessions we were the fastest car on the track,” said Team Principal Tancredi Pagiaro. “We’re very satisfied with our appearance here, which helped us to race many kilometres with the 2019 season in sight and collaborate with drivers such as De Marco and Onidi, who already raced with us in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe and back in the F.3000 series”.
Just for the record: while it was De Marco who started from row four it was Ramos’ honour to cross the finishing line in first place. The high temperatures throughout the weekend made double-stints completely impossible. Now the Team is getting ready for the next season, while the different programmes will be presented soon.
